Charter for Age-friendly Shopping Malls

To encourage more shopping malls to implement age-friendly measures and cater for the needs of visitors at all ages, the Jockey Club Age-friendly City Project has launched the “Charter for Age-friendly Shopping Malls” under the theme of “Creating an age-friendly and inclusive shopping environment and experience for all”. Total 60 shopping malls have joined the Charter.

All shopping malls in Hong Kong are eligible to join the Charter. Participating malls must have fulfilled (or will fulfill) at least two criteria in each of the two areas: “Environment” and “Measures”.
Environment
  • Barrier-free access/ facilities
  • Comprehensive safety measures
  • Clear signage and directions
  • Comfortable shopping space
  • Space planning that caters for all
Measures
  • Training for staff to support different customer groups
  • High-quality customer service
  • Age-friendly management culture
  • Products and services that cater for all ages
  • Promote intergenerational harmony
Shopping malls which have successfully joined the Charter can use the logo for demonstration, which represents the mall’s commitment to undertaking continual improvement for the well-being of senior citizens and people of all ages, and catering for the needs of all visitors through professional and top-notch services and facilities.
