Jockey Club Age-friendly City Project - New Vision 3.0

Key components:
  • Recruit and train new AFC Ambassadors, and set up a core group under the leadership of AFC Ambassadors trained under Phase I and Phase II programmes to advance the development of age-friendly community.
  • Conduct community visits by AFC Ambassadors to further explore the room for improvement in community facilities, environments or policies and relay the opinions to relevant organisations.
  • Engage the elderly in the core group on discussing community issues and current affairs, and equip them with the skills of policy discussion and expressing opinions, as well as offer opportunities to join related forums to put learning into practice.
  • Organise “Job Expo for the Middle-aged” and invite related organisations to jointly promote employment for the middle-aged, and line up with interested employers to establish job recruitment platform in the district.
  • Provide professional trainings for the elderly and young people on drama performances and arrange performances in Tung Chung to promote respect and social inclusion, as well as organise sharing sessions to discuss the issues relating to age-friendly community.
  • Provide home-based professional services for the elderly in need and those seldom go out (e.g. older people with mild cognitive impairment or low mobility) with regular assessments on their needs and physical conditions. Trained volunteers to conduct simple home modification work, instruct fitness exercises and strengthen the mobility and cognitive abilities via tablets/board games for the elderly in need.
  • Organise educational talks and set up street booths in the community to promote elderly health and age-friendly messages.
