JCAFC Exhibition Zone at Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit 2018

The Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit 2018 (“GIES 2018”) was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 22-25 November 2018. Various innovative products and ideas locally and overseas, which utilised technologies to respond better to the needs of an ageing population, were showcased.

Three mobile apps were displayed in the exhibition zone of the Jockey Club Age-friendly City (“JCAFC”) Project under The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust Pavilion. The three mobile apps were developed under district-based programmes of the Project to improve age-friendliness in districts, namely “Walking Kwun Tong for Active Ageing” by Christian Family Service Centre to introduce good walking routes in Kwun Tong to encourage older people to stay active in the community with the use of smart technology; “Tai Po App” by Helping Hand Cheung Muk Tau Holiday Centre for the Elderly to introduce age-friendly attractions, camp sites and restaurants in Tai Po; and “Together We Love Elderly @ Tuen Mun” by Yan Oi Tong Woo Chung District Elderly Community Centre to help locate missing elders with dementia. To further enhance public awareness on the concepts of age-friendly city, there was an interactive game zone in which visitors could use touch-screen devices to create their own age-friendly communities. Over 4,000 general public visited the JCAFC booth in the four-day exhibition.
