JCAFC Exhibition Zone at Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit 2019

On 21-24 November 2019, the Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit (GIES) 2019 was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre to showcase nearly 500 local and overseas gerontechnology products and inventions from 140 exhibitors targeting to enhance the quality of life of the elderly and cater for the varying needs of a rapidly ageing population.

The Jockey Club Age-friendly City (JCAFC) Project had once again set up an exhibition zone under The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust Pavilion this year, featuring a mobile app on age-friendly home design developed under the Project by the Institute of Active Ageing of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.  Through augmented reality (AR) technology in the digital interactive game, elderly visitors could design and envision their ideal living environment and home settings, which also provided an opportunity to learn more about the needs of older people on home safety and daily living. Over 2,300 general public visited the JCAFC booth during the four-day exhibition. Many visitors showed deep interest on the AR app and reflected that they could express their views on age-friendly home design more easily with this app.
