Sau Po Centre on Ageing is a multidisciplinary centre committed to improving the quality-of-life for older people through research and knowledge exchange activities. Since inception in 1999 under the auspices of the Faculty of Social Sciences, The University of Hong Kong, the Centre has contributed significantly to the development of long term care policy and practice in Hong Kong through its policy research and consultancy with various government departments and major nonprofit making organizations. The Centre leads the development of ageing research and education in Asia through its close collaboration with partners in the mainland China and other Asian countries. The multidisciplinary team of researchers in the Centre is conducting cutting edge research in various aspects of gerontology, such as long term care policy, care management, ageing in place, social security and financial security of older people, health care for older people, end of life care, aged-friendly community, and active ageing.
